Telehealth Q&A

What is telehealth?

Telehealth provides mental health care using a virtual platform, letting you receive the therapy you need from your home or wherever you happen to be. You simply use your smartphone, tablet, or computer and connect online through a video call.

You can conveniently meet with Debra face-to-face without spending time traveling to the office, finding child care, or taking time out of your busy schedule.

What mental health services can I get through telehealth?

You can get all the same services through telehealth as you would if you went to the office, including:

Initial consultation

New patients can use telehealth for their first appointment. However, you may need to complete some forms and return them to the office before they can schedule your telehealth appointment.

During your virtual visit, Debra reviews your medical history, learns about your symptoms, discusses your concerns, and completes a psychiatric evaluation. Then she determines your diagnosis, creates an individualized treatment plan, and schedules your first follow-up appointment for therapy.

Talk therapy is the primary treatment for mental health disorders. Debra specializes in many different therapies, all of which are just as effective virtually as in the office. She may recommend one of the following:

  • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT)
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
  • Attachment-based therapy
  • Trauma-focused therapy
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Psychotherapy
  • Inner child work

In addition to therapy, Debra practices a holistic approach, so she may recommend using mindfulness techniques, ways to improve your sleep, and explore diet or exercise changes to support your overall wellbeing.
